This special edition of Oral Diseases provides the abstracts of the 10th Biennial Conference of the European Association of Oral Medicine (EAOM) to be held in London in September 2010. The meeting brings together the EAOM, the British Society of Oral Medicine and delegates of the American Association of Oral Medicine and the 5th World Workshop in Oral Medicine and hence represents possibly the largest group of Oral Medicine clinicians and scientists in the world. The abstracts reflect the extended range of disorders that affect patients attending Oral Medicine specialists across the globe as well as the broad spectrum of methodologies applied to current day research. They provide a snapshot of contemporary oral medicine and will no doubt form the basis of future research initiatives, publications and healthy debate. The organising committee of the EAOM would like to thank the editors of Oral Diseases (Professors Crispian Scully and Bruce Baum) and publishers (Wiley-Blackwell) for so kindly allowing the Association the opportunity to publish the abstracts. Such initiatives help to widen knowledge of the clinical practice and research of Oral Medicine across the world.
