摘要

A new method for the surface modification of used tyre rubber (UTR) has been developed. The method involves hydrosilylation of ground tyre rubber with trichloro-silane (TCS} under various reaction conditions. The reaction has been carried out with and without solvents/catalysts (Karstedt's catalyst/Pt catalyst). Hydrolysis of TCS treated UTR particles generated hydrosilylated rubber powder being function-alised with silanol groups. ATR-FTIR, solid state "C NMR spectroscopy, and TGA evidenced the hydrosilylation of the rubber particles.
