Love in the Swamp Among the Orchids

WHOEVER THOUGHT I'D BE INVIT-ed to attend a wedding in a swamp where the bride wore a long white wedding dress and combat boots in water up to her knees. So here I was in the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve (FSSP) in Southwest Florida to witness the marriage of Mike Owen, the chief biologist of the preserve for the past 18 years, and Donna Glann-Smyth. They met eight years ago when Mike was leading a guided swamp walk through the Strand looking for some of the orchids that are found here.
