摘要

Wind, hail, frost and generally cold temperatures have taken their toll on the Bay of Plenty's avocado crop this season. But for those with plenty of export quality fruit, returns should be excellent. Industry CEO Alan Thorn said early prices in Australia were as high as 30 dollar a tray but these had since softened. "Weather-wise it has been a very abnormal season for the Bay of Plenty, but a second crop estimate early in November revealed no surprises on our earlier figures. Unusually cold temperatures have certainly affected fruit size and that's probably had more impact than specific weather events."
