This paper focuses on the use of Laelia anceps subsp. dawsonii var. chilapensis flowers during the traditional Day of the Dead festivities in Chilapa, Mexico. Details are also given on the morphology, cultivation, biodiversity, habitat requirements and conservation status of native laelias as well as their use by early Aztec civilization..
