Measurements of the Rotational Relaxation Times for Absorption Lines with Voigt Profiles

A new method for determining the relaxation parameters T_(1) and T_(2) for the Voigt profile of an absorption line is presented. The method was tested on gaseous OCS with the use of a phase-switching spectrometer. The method is equally applicable for both pure gases and gas mixtures.
