Postexposition mobility of molecules constituting a hologram in a polymer material may lead to both degradation and enhancement of a grating. In the case where a photoreaction product is immobilized due to bonds with polymer chains, the long-term stability of a hologram is determined by such a slow process as macromolecule diffusion. In this work devoted to the kinetics of the holographic grating efficiency, the diffusion coefficients of macromolecules with chromophore labels attached to them are measured for temperatures in the vicinity of the glass transition temperature. The stability of a hologram recorded in a medium with diffusive enhancement is shown to depend strongly on the concentration of the polymerization initiator used in the fabrication of the medium.
