The absorption and fluorescence spectra of Ti3+ ions in alumosilicophosphate glass are studied at a temperature of 300 K. The data obtained are indicative of the octahedral coordination of titanium significantly distorted due to the Jahn–Teller effect. The nearest environment of Ti3+ ions consists of phosphate chains (P)n. The EAS bands observed are assigned to the 2B2g2B1g and 2B2g2A1g transitions. Intense fluorescence of titanium in the wavelength range of 700–900 nm is detected. The average lifetime of the excited 2E-state is 10 μs.
