Matrix elements of the direct part of the energy operator of the spin-other-orbit interaction are derived for pf and p~5f configurations in terms of the radial Marvin integrals of spin interactions. Changes associated with permutation of electrons (fp and f~(13)p configurations) are analyzed. The angular parts of the matrix elements are calculated in the single-configuration approximation. For electron configurations, they are obtained in the LSJM representation and the representation of uncoupled angular momenta. For hole configurations, they are calculated only in the latter representation, and a passage to the LSJM representation is performed using a matrix of Clebsch-Gordan coefficients.
