Electrooptical Control of the Frequency of Bragg Synchronism in a Paratellurite Acoustooptical Filter

The theoretical and experimental study of regularities of the performance of a quasi-collinear filter on the basis of a paratellurite crystal are reported. The control of the frequency of Bragg synchronism in an acoustooptical filter owing to an external electric field applied to a crystal was realized. The shift of the synchronism frequency was found to be dependent on the electric field strength and the electrooptical coefficient. In an experiment with a quasi-collinear filter, the shift of the acoustic frequency by δf = 2.6 kHz by the external field with E_0 = 5.2 kV/cm was realized, and the estimation of the electrooptical coefficient of the material gave the value r_(41) = 0.62 * 10~(-12) m/V. For the optical wavelength λ = 633 nm, the electrooptical tuning of the filter was found to be δλ = 0.25 A. The results of the study show that the electrooptical effect offers promise for the use in instruments of present-day optoelectronics on the basis of paratellurite.
