Laser-Stimulated Modification of Properties of Transition Metal Oxides

摘要

The effect of laser radiation upon properties of oxide films of transition metals is studied. It is shown that laser radiation stimulates crystallization and phase formation processes that cause considerable changes in optical arameters of oxide films. Threshold energy densities necessary for the initiation of modification of material properties are estimated. The threshold energy had a minimum value for amorphous VO2 oxide and further increased in the TiO2, Nb2O5, Ta2O5 series. The effect of selective chemical etching of initial and laser-irradiated films is found. The possibility of using oxide films of transition metals as a medium for recording, storage, and displaying optical information is shown.
