Strong Acoustooptic Coupling of Collinear Gaussian Beams

A set of equations is derived connecting amplitudes and phases of transmitted and diffracted light beams and, also, of a sound beam with Gaussian profiles of amplitudes, for the case of their propagation in the same direction. The solution of these equations with appropriate boundary conditions yields longitudinal and transverse distributions of the amplitude and phase both for transmitted and diffracted beams under conditions of strong coupling when the sound beam radius is much larger than that of the light beam. Some particular cases of collinear coupling are analyzed for different densities of acoustic power.
