We study the spatial coherence problem using an amplitude modulation applied to confocal imaging systems. This type of modulation assumes a quadratic radial distribution. The mutual coherence intensity or the coherence factor is calculated and compared with the results obtained for clear circular apertures. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. [References: 10]
