Of the major events that have forever changed the future of our industry,one that is often forgotten is 1982's massive Lodgepole sour gas blowout.Twenty-five years ago this month,this massive rogue well was releasing enormous quantities of hydrogen sulphide,condensate,and controversy.The oil patch hasn't been the same since.It started Oct.17,1982,when Amoco was trying to retrieve a core from a high-pressure,prolific Nisku reef.Everything that could go wrong did,and at 2:30 that afternoon,a major uncontrolled flow began.
