Heavy rains through much of the second quarter-especially in June-dramatically slowed field activity in Western Canada,but that hasn't deterred most pundits from predicting another record year for drilling in 2005,and certain key signposts support that contention.Rig counts tracked by Oilweek followed historical patterns through March and April,with the Western Canada utilization rate falling from above 90 per cent in late February and early March to the usual spring breakup low of about 25 per cent in mid-April.
