Describes the "seasons" of professional life and conscious decision-making regarding role changes.As I considered leaving my position as chairperson of the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the College of St. Catherine, I remembered the valuable advice I had received at a New Year's Eve party many, many years ago. Most of the revelers were making the usual small talk and toasts that come at a time of new beginnings. However, I had a brief exchange with an elderly statesperson who was eager to share his reflections on living a good life. He had been a powerful executive for a large corporation during his working years and a respected public servant on his retirement.
