摘要

This study aims at improving the quality of paper made from agricultural residues pulp containing 90% wheat straw and bagasse pulp(mixed in a 60:40 ratio),alongwith 10% imported softwood pulp,which is the common furnish for medium-sized Indian paper mills of an around 33,000 tonnes/annum capacity.Using fiber fractionation,it is possible to separate pulp fibers with different fiber strength,fiber length,curl and kink indices.Effective separation of this pulp into two fractions was possible by using 50 mesh sieves,in a Bauer McNett fiber classifier.Triple layered sheet formation with longer(+50)fraction,sandwiching the fines rich(-50)pulp fraction in between,can produce paper of improved quality in terms of reduced fluff tendency,improved tensile and tear strength,bulk and stiffness.This is a good opportunity for mills based on agricultural residues pulp to produce better quality paper.
