THE FIRST PHASE of the Amakpe Refinery Project in Akwa Ibom State cost nearly $60 million and will open with a refining capacity of 6,000 bpd. The Ikot Usekong Eket site is connected to the Exxon/Mobile tank farm by a 12-km pipeline and will operate machinery and equipment manufactured by Ventech Engineers Incorporated of Pasadena, Texas. We arrived at this milestone by a careful and meticulous execution of our plans in spite of major cost overruns coupled with current world-wide economic turbulence," says Amakpe International Refinery's Chief Executive Officer Usua Amanam.
