Global oil supplies dipped in August on heavy North Sea maintenance work, centered this time in the UK sector. North Sea output slipped by nearly 460,000 barrels per day while the rest of non-Opec producers added 140,000 b/d. The net 320,000 b/d or so decline for non-Opec was further diluted by a more than 100,000 b/d increase in Opec crude and a net gain of about 90,000 b/d in global natural gas liquids as large Opec increases beat out a small non-Opec loss. In the end, the world was left with a modest 120,000 b/d less oil in August than in July at 84.32 million GLC b/d, 400,000 b/d below demand (see p3).
