A new Correlation Predicts Viscosity of Blends Containing Heavy Residual Oils

A new correlation has been developed by the research laboratory of Lukoil Neftochim Bourgas, Bulgaria, which accurately predicts the viscosity of blends containing heavy residual oils. The viscosity of the heavy residual oil blend can be estimated based on the viscosities of the residual oil and diluent, and the diluent's density and volume average boiling point. This correlation exhibits a second order accuracy improvement over correlations applied in commercial soft ware simulators and linear programming tools.
