BP Eyes Horizontal Drilling Record as it Develops Alaska Field

BP intends to drill the world's longest horizontal well to tap the 100-million-barrel Liberty oil field off the coast of Alaska's North Slope, with first oil possibly flowing as early as next year.The UK-based supermajor also plans to sustain production from older North Slope fields where output has long since peaked, company officials told Oil Daily in an interview this week.
