The Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX) said Wednesday that it plans to start trading cash-settled West Texas Intermediate (WTI) light sweet crude oil futures contracts once its electronic trading platform launches in August. SMX, created in 2008, will offer a futures contract to be traded in units of 1,000 bbl, similar in size to the heavily traded Nymex WTI contract.
