Drilling Ban Places Jobs at Risk

For each platform idled by the Obama administration's ban on offshore drilling, up to 1,400 jobs are at risk, according to the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA). The forecast comes on the heels of the Department of the Interior's order to stop work on 33 exploratory wells in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and institute a six-month moratorium on all drilling in water depths greater than 500 feet (OD May28,p2).
