Norway’s Statoil and Brazilian indepen-dent OGX have both announced significanthydrocarbons finds in Brazil’s offshore Cam-pos Basin. Statoil says it has found between150 million to 300 million recoverable bar-rels of oil equivalent at its Peregrino Southwell. The well is adjacent to the Peregrinofield, which Statoil operates.Statoil says the Peregrino field, which be-gan production in April, will eventually yield100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.Last year the firm announced the sale of a40% stake in the field to China’s Sinochem.When the deal closes, Statoil will retain a60% interest in the field.
