New Zealand:Canada-based Trans-Orient Petroleum has estimated that its acreage in New Zealand's onshore East Coast Basin has the potential to contain 12.6 bn bbl of oil.The company has tested a number of seeps in its wholly owned permit area and has generated sweet,light crude.The resources have been assigned based on well log data,core pyrolysis,and field measurements of outcrop and oil and gas seep locations,according to a report by AJM Petroleum Consultants.This estimate of original oil in place by AJM is based on less than 10% of Trans-Orient's 2.2 million-acre permit holdings in the East Coast Basin.
