Venezuela: The estimate of the reserves contained in Venezuela's Perla natural gas field has been increased by at least 30%. Perla was already Venezuela's largest gas discovery, but following a second successful exploration well at the field, estimated reserves have been raised to between 1.6 and 1.85 bn boe. The Perla 2 appraisal well encountered 840 ft of net pay and flowed at 1.4 mn cu m/d of gas and 1,500 bpd of condensate during tests. Two additional development wells are planned for this year. Perla is located in the Cardon IV block, and is jointly operated by Spain's Repsol and Italy's Eni with a 50% interest each.
