In late fall, the U.S. House and Senate approved a $32.2-billion appropriations bill to fund the nation's Department of Interior, as well as other federal environmental agencies. Included in the legislation is a special provision that directs the Environmental Protection Agency to produce a study on hydraulic fracturing.
