摘要

After a number of delays, Tanzania seems to be ready to start the process of becoming a gas-exporting country. Recent discoveries indicate that there is enough gas there to support exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in addition to supplying the domestic market, and bids have recently been received to develop seven offshore exploration blocks and one onshore block. In a further sign that the country is firmly set on becoming an exporter, the government has indicated that it will soon announce a site for an export terminal. A final investment decision on the project is due in 2016 and exports are forecast to begin in 2020.
