Canadians will be paying $50/tonne of emitted CO2 come 2022 under the federal government's greenhouse gas reduction plan announced in early October. The federal CO2 emissions reduction plan, released in a surprise statement by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in parliament, calls for ratcheting up carbon pricing in increments of $10/tonne each year from 2018 to 2022. It leaves it up to provinces to determine how they will implement the fees.
