A year ago, TransCanada and its controversial Keystone XL project was the deer in the headlights of the anti-oilsands/environ-mental movement; this past summer, the target of choice was Enbridge Inc., until 2010 a relatively low-key provider of major liquids pipeline transportation services linking western Canadian crude producers with refinery markets from Chicago to Corpus Christi, Texas.
