Multiple drainholes that diverge from a main wellbore maximize reservoir contact. In additioin to providing more drainage area than a single-bore well, these multilateral completioins potentially reduce overall drilling risk and total cost. To meet specific field-development objectivees in today's demanding oil and gas applications, operators require reliable junctions between primary casing in the main borehole and liners in lateral well branches.
