Canadian intelligence experts confirm that civil aviation remains a favoured target of terrorists attacks globally. Transport Canada has introduced changes to the regulatory framework for Air Cargo Security (ACS) in Canada. These measures bring Canada inline with other international aviation security regulators. The measures apply to domestic, transborder and international PASSENGER flights, carrying CARGO, departing from airports within Canada. In a nutshell, all cargo must be deemed "secure." The initiative recognizes a Secure Supply Chain System, which starts at the Shipper's location and continues up until the cargo is loaded onto a passenger aircraft. Companies that ship cargo by air, either directly or through a freight forwarder, are encouraged to become REGISTERED SHIPPERS in the ACS Program.
