STUART PETROLEUM'S (50% and operator) decision to wade offshore into the Gippsland Basin has failed to bring the hoped-for rewards. The company paid 100% of the 3,450 metre deep Bazzard-1 well to test five zones with potential for more than 100 mmbbl, but while all the zones were encountered they contained only sub-commercial hydrocarbons.
