The floater and jackup markets in the region are very strong with no availability envisaged until early to mid-2006. Short-term demand and low day rates for floaters may result in more units moving to more lucrative areas where they can secure longer term contracts. INDIA: Reliance issued a tender for provision of a third DP or moored floater for a three-year program off India commencing in a window from March to May 2007. The operator requires a unit capable of drilling in up to 1,219 msw (4,000 fsw). This is in addition to the previously negotiated two-year charters of Transocean drillships Deepwater Frontier and Deepwater Expedition, both of which start around mid-2006.
