South Korean shipbuilders are expected to work together on the offshore project tenders expected to be issued soon by Petrobras, SIX Corp chairman Kang Duk-soo revealed, as the orders are too large for any single yard to handle. Aside from STX, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering are also in talks with Petrobras. The operator is expected to issue tenders soon for offshore oil development vessels including drillships and FPSOs. The vessel orders are estimated to be worth around USD 25-30 billion, of which USD 15 billion would be earmarked for drillships and semis projects up for awards this year.
