Emissions and noise regulations have made helping the hard-working diesel engine keep its cool a greater challenge, but there are a number of weapons available to help combat the heat. A significant amount of new component and system work has taken place behind the radiator in order to increase air flow without sacrificing horsepower or increasing sound levels. From system design to the components themselves, the cooling package has come a long way from the days when a radiator, water pump and an engine-driven fan had center stage.
