Two types of oak stands found along the Finistere coast cover very small areas in the form of sparse forests growing on the cliffs that overlook the innermost reaches of coves and estuaries:-a thermophilous Quercus robur and Rubia peregrina oak forest, representative of Rubio peregrinae-Quercetum roboris, the range of which is specified;-a mesophytic Quercus petraea forest, whose phytosociological status is disputed.These two types of coastal forests have considerable value as heritage forests and deserve to be placed under protective management.
