Mixed forests and maintaining genetic diversity.

摘要

Maintaining the genetic diversity of forest tree species is important for sustainable management of forests. We briefly review the main evolutionary forces driving genetic diversity. The expected effect of management practices, such as species combination, on the genetic diversity of a target species can be assessed from their impact on the demographic structure of the considered species as well as their impact on the environmental conditions.
