Malaysian NR production increased in July

Production of natural rubber (NR) for July 2011 was 100,281 tons, up by 14,895 tons, or 17.4 percent, compared to the previous month, according to the Malaysian Statistics Office. For year-on-year, production of NR also rose by 23.7 percent, compared to July 2010. The smallholding sector contributes 94.5 percent of the total NR production, while the balance from the estate sector is 5.5 percent. The main producer of NR in estates for this month was Negeri Sembilan (24.6%), followed by Kedah (21.7%) and Pahang (15.9%). Exports of NR in July decreased by 11,257 tons (-16.4%) to 57,334 tons, compared with the previous month, while year-on-year, exports dropped by 18,171 tons (-24.1%).
