NBR/PVC blends for optimized physical properties in extrusion compounds

Nitrile rubber is the generic name given to emulsion polymerized copolymers of acrylonirrile and butadiene (ref. 1). Its single most important property is exceptional resistance to attack by most oils and non-polar solvents. NBR polymers also offer better gas impermeability, abrasion resistance and thermal stability than most general purpose elastomers. These attributes come about from the highly polar character of acrylonirrile, the content of which determines the polymer's particular unique balance of properties.
