All systems of this supplier of extrusion systems for rubber straining applications, VMI-AZ, consist of a single screw extruder in conjunction with a gear pump and a strainer head or rapid screen changer. Within the last few years, the demands of the market have changed from low output cold feed systems to high output hot feed systems. This is due to the fact that most straining applications are nowadays relocated to the mill room, where the rubber is fed to the strainer system directly from the batch-off mill. Consequently, the extruder gear pump strainer must provide a high output to keep up with the output of the mixer. VMI's latest design is a Combex 150 ex-trader gear pump system with an output of at least 3,500kg/h. at a compound density of 1.1g/cm~3. The Combex 150 is a new machine size and covers a high output range especially for inline straining applications in the mill-room.
