The impact of NTIC on the management of electricity distribution networks

The electrical power distribution industry has undergone profound changes since the advent of deregulation. Under these new conditions, NTICs are playing an important role and are making a decisive impact on the organization of the energy market, the technical management of electricity distribution networks, network components, generator equipment, and control and safety systems. A number of new entrants have arrived in the market following deregulation. These companies are concerned as much with the need to grow in a competitive market as with the practical problems of electricity distribution. The NTICs will have an impact on the entire market, in particular the distribution companies, their suppliers and their customers. The risks, advantages and questions raised by the arrival of these NTICs must be taken into account by the established companies in the field.
