The best pots in this exhibition hold a sense of quietude. They are balanced in the tradition that finds inspiration in Sung dynasty ceramics and which owes its foundation in Britain to Bernard Leach and Shop Hamada. Mike Dodd has always been one of their fervent apostles and he has remained obdurate as fashion and interest swung away from that lineage. The Goldmark Gallery's commitment to some of those close to this tradition has done much to put these potters back in significant view by selling their work very successfully and promoting them with sumptuous catalogues, DVDs, and on their Modern Pots website. In this spacious gallery Mike Dodd's pots summon up the colours of English landscape and weather. The materials he uses are from the terrain of the south-west.
