An experimental protocol for fertility preservation in prepubertal boys recently diagnosed with cancer: A report of acceptability and safety

Prepubertal males with malignancies are at high risk for infertility due to treatment-related gonadal damage. Testicular tissue cryopreservation at the time of diagnosis has promise for preservation of fertility in prepubertal males but is still experimental. Maintenance of fertility is a considerable concern for cancer survivors entering their reproductive years and for their parents, but the decision to undergo testicular biopsy and tissue cryopreservation is difficult at the time of diagnosis when survival is the critical issue.
