IMPLEMENTATION OF HEAP LEACHING OF GOLD AT THE CHAZY-GOL DEPOSIT

In May of 1997 the Russian gold extracting company Zolotaya Zvezda put in operation a commercial heap leaching (HL) complex at the Kuznetsovsk segment in the Sakhsarsk gold/ore zone of the Nemir-Chazygol'sk ore field.The Sakhsarsk ore zone (the Chazy-Gol deposit) and the Kuznetsovsk segment (its western flank) are in the Askizsk region of the Khakass Republic and are located on the southeastern slope of the Kuznetsk Alatau mountain range. The geological operations at the deposit have been carried out by the Minusinsk Expedition since 1978 with some interruptions to the present time.The ores of the western ore body of the Chazy-Gol deposit are represented by fractured, oxidized, brecciated metasomites/beresites. The ores are massive, cohered, limonitized. The composition of the metasomites/beresites is foliated/quartz, foliated/quartz/carbonate, and albite/quartz/sericitic with carbonate. The primary carbonate is ankerite, consequently the ores in the oxidation zone are brownish.
