THE STRUCTURE FACTOR IN PROCESSES OF CREATING POWDERS OF INTERMETALLIC COMPOUNDS

The mechanisms of diffusion interaction between products obtained in combined reduction reactions of metal oxides or a mixture of titanium oxide with a corresponding metal by means of calcium hydride in the course of producing powders of the intermetallic compounds TiAl, TiNi, and TiFe are considered. AtT <= 1200 deg C alloy formation in these systems is related to different interactions between the particles of the metals and the intermediate phases that are formed, predominantly by a solid phase (TiAl) or liquid phase interaction due to the formation of eutectics in the zone of contact of the solid particles (TiFe), or according to a mixed type of interaction (TiNi). The evolution of the basic and intermediate phases in the course of diffusion interaction of the components occurs in accordance with the equilibrium state diagrams. The temperature-time intervals within which homogeneous powders of intermetallic compounds of titanium are obtained; are determined.
