The Golden Bridge Pottery was established in 1971 by Ray Meeker and Deborah Smith and is situated in an ex-French colony Pondicherry, on the south-eastern coast of southern India, surrounded by the area known as Tamil Nadu. The pottery produces a range of stoneware that is sold throughout India and takes on a number of students each year who are taught all aspects of pottery production. I first thought of travelling to Pondicherry and the Golden Bridge pottery some years ago when I saw an article and video of the Fired House Projects for which Ray Meeker is famous. This was truly inspirational and I knew that I had to meet Ray and Deborah.
