ICP-MS Determination of Some Metals and Metalloids Concentrations in Soil from Agricultural and Inhabited Areas of Romania

摘要

The concentrations of some metals (Cr, Cu, Cd, Ni, Zn, Ag, Pb, Ba) and metalloid B in soil samples collected from agricultural and inhabited areas of 4 counties (Ialomita, Botosani, Giurgiu and Olt) of Romania were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The recorded values were compared with the normal values and thresholds set by the Romanian Order 756/1997. The results indicated that only for Band Cd, in all 4 counties, the values were higher than the normal. Higher values than die normal were obtained also for Zn in soil samples from inhabited areas of Giurgiu County. In some samples tiiere were recorded values below the detection limit for Ag, Pb, Cd, B and Cr. For Cr, Cu, Ni, Ba and Zn (excepting the above mentioned concentration) the obtained concentrations were far below the normal values. It can be said tiiat, with die exception of Cd and B, all studied metals presented concentrations below die normal values or below the alert tiiresholds, so the soil in all die areas does not pose concerns about metals contamination and does not represent a risk for human health.
