摘要

This paper describes the synthesis and characterization of several Cu(II) complexes using Schiff bases derived of 4-amino-antipyrine and 2- thiophencarboxaldehyde (L1), 5-metil-2-tiophencarboxaldehide (L2) respectively. The Schiff bases and their copper complexes were physico-chemically characterised. The antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia Coli, of Schiff bases and copper complexes was tested and compared in order to evaluate the effect of ligands upon chelation. Copper complexes with L1 show a tethraedral geometry, while the compounds with L2 show an octahedral geometry where L2 act as neutral tridentate ligand trough NOS atoms.
