New set-up for waterjet cutting

OAO ENIMS [Experimental Scientific-Research Institute of Metal-Cutting Machine Tools] has developed on the basis of a previously performed series of scientific-research and experimental-design studies [1] a new set-up for waterjet cutting (model UR-350) (Fig. 1) that is equipped with a pressure multiplier with 150 mm travel. We have used for the first time in domestic practice a servo electric drive for the displacement of the working head along the vertical axis, which makes it possible to stabilize the magnitude of the clearance between the passer unit and the workpiece even if the latter is not flat.
